About the City of Abbotsford

Abbotsford is a fast growing community in the Fraser Valley approximately 70km east of Vancouver home to 131,000 people 1. It is located between Langley in the east and Chilliwack to the west.
Tourism, agriculture and retail are among the businesses and industries that are present in Abbotsford. The downtown area has stores, shopping centres and restaurants. Also within the city is Centennial Park where Mill Lake is located. This provides a nice setting for walking along trails or canoeing.
There are several post-secondary institutions providing educational opportunities to students in the area. The University College of the Fraser Valley has several campuses including one in Abbotsford. UCFV students can study one of the bachelor or certificate programs available. Other colleges include Columbia Bible College, Summit Pacific College (previously called Western Pentecostal Bible College) and Canadian Community College.
Abbotsford is famous for the Abbotsford International Airshow. With scenic mountain backdrops it is an event that attracts an international audience. The annual airshow features aircraft the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and other aircraft performing aerial displays to entertain the audiences.
